NOTE:i no longer got access to the internet at home, hence this became an expensive post.as of the moment we got no telephone line at home that's why i got out of our house and rented a computer just to update this blog which i have grown to love.there are some advantage and a couple of disadvantages having no internet at home.here are some of them:
advantage:
-i get to use an updated pc which if you compared to the one i own is really way to much faster.there'd be no contest at all.you just might consider the one i own antique.its really outdated.my processor is still pentium 1,my cd-rom drive is no longer working and it hangs-up from time to time.the only good thing about it is that its still working.
disadvantages:
-i have to spend extra bucks just to update this post.
-im no longer in the comfort of our own home.
-i got no easy access to the internet.
i still dont know what to feel about this situation but obviously im not glad 'bout it.i'll no longer be able to post as often as i used to before.i think i'll only be able to post 'bout once or twice a week.im really goin' to miss updating this blog...*sigh*
the best things in life are indeed free!ver.2
i think some time in may or early june i posted something 'bout having the best things in life are free.well, last saturday i've experienced it again, reason being this post became version 2.
i went to the goodyear event at le pavillion in roxas blvd.if i remembered it correctly the event was called the "musical revolution".a battle of the bands contest with the winning band and their composistion would be the newest goodyear song.i went there in support of my buddy paulo, who is a drummer for an up and coming band, maryz ark.in case your updated with the local underground music scene you might know them.
to begin with, the concert was free!!!there no tickets, entrance fees or whatsoever.i only get to spend 20 php for transportation.i almost didn't get inside at the venue though.why?those bulky bouncers wouldn't let me in coz i was wearing shorts.i dont know what to react, why are shorts aren't allowed?its a rock concert in the first place, what do they expect me to wear, formal attire?i didn't argue with them anymore and just asked my buddy to think of a plan how could i get inside.after quite some time,i decided to give it one more try and luckily they let me in.
i never thought that le pavillion wouldn't be as big as i expected it to be.i think it was a small venue for a rock concert but funny thing is the place isn't that crowded at all.not too many people showed up for the moment which i think is also a good thing coz we could freely roam around in such confined space.as i was going around the venue i looked around for some food booths coz i was thirsty.i saw a pepsi booth and to my surprise they were selling softdrinks for 20 php at buy one take one.damn!was i really happy 'bout it.in convenience stores you get to pay 15 php for a piece but here you'll get 2 for a cheap price of 20 php.not only that i was also able to get a free pin and my photo taken (which i hope it would be published in a magazine that covered the event, either mtv ink or pulp.hehe.dream on,luiboi, dream on).
i also cant believed that i was standing front row!i have a clear view of the stage and i can clearly see the performers and hosts up on stage.mtv vj's mark abaya and patty laurel we're the hosts.it was my second time to see patty in person, first time i saw her was at our school for the mtv summit and guess what?i was not only able to see her but i got the chance to show her around school coz she was looking for the comfort room.im planning on sending her a message after this post i just hope somehow she still remembers me.hehe.
the performers were mark abaya's new band, kjwan, sixcycle mind, sugarfree and the all so famous bamboo.finally i get to see these bands perform live!i rarely have the chance to go out at night, reason behind i have no nightlife.that's why i get the most out of it everytime my parents allowed me to go out.the other bands competing that night were maharlika, psywar and the eventuall winners sunflower daycamp.the winners really played well, they were playing punk-ska and even my buddy paulo mentioned that this band was their close rival.even though, they didnt win they we're still happy 'bout the event coz people, aside from their supporters, enjoyed their music.in case you know ataris, dashboard confessional, all american rejects you'll probably like their band coz they play the same genre,emo-punk(emotional punk).
a funny thing that happened during the event was when psywar was playing (their genre was trash metal so it was really noisy) people sat down.even those hardcore rock afficionados didnt get to like their music and they weren't as rowdy as compared to the bands that have previously played.it was the first time i saw people do that in a rock concert.instead of having mosh pits they were all seated down.hehe.hey,i think it was more respectful instead of booing the performers.but still,i was a funny sight to see.hehe.
i was also my first time to see mosh pits and people body surfing (the act wherein a person is carried around as if he was surfing in a wave of people.huh?hope you get to understand my description).it was a different experience for me.its like i was in a hostile territory and watching at my own risk.i was watching the perfomers up on stage and at the same time glancing once in while in the back coz im afraid of being hurt by an elbow or something.
overall,i really enjoyed the event!aside of having it free, the performers we're really good except for that psywar band.in case you might want to know more 'bout my buddy's band just click on my link "maryz ark" and you'll get to their official website.
well, this sure has been another lenghty post.expect my following post to be long coz im really getting the most out of this computer rental.i think im already 'bout to pay 50 bucks or so coz i've stayed here for 1 hour and a couple of minutes more.i still wish to say a lot but time's up.got to go.'till next time...
